I largely boycotted PayPal after I spent three hours on the phone with them over a weekend to contest three transactions worth a total of $150 and spent most of that time being bounced between the same two departments even after I started explicitly telling them they were bouncing me between themselves.

I would have disputed online, but kept getting error messages, naturally.

Usually you can do that until at least a week before the con, but when you book the room (or when it confirms your reservation), it should tell you.

It's always a risk. If you say four now, and it turns out to be two, you probably can't get them to remove the $30/nt fee. However if you say two now, there's a bigger chance you'll get a room with only one bed when you check in

Red Lion had a history of letting everyone reserve two beds and upsetting half the attendees when they showed up. Red Lion wasn't a good one, though!

Yep. I had to fight them in 2018 to get the premium room I paid extra for, and this was with a Thursday check in. This is why I just didn't bother going in 2019.

Our room had fungus growing out of it, water going down the walls, and black mold in places. Red lion had bigger issues than room types lol.

Per Google, hotel tax rate is 15% in Connecticut. I imagine you then add the 6.35% state sales tax and who knows whatever other fees and taxes. So 21+% on $163 × 4 is uh a lot.

The best perk I find is when there's a separate line for sponsors to get into main events. So you can show up a few minutes before the event starts, rather than waiting an hour in line

At any rate, I usually run a Red Dragon Inn Tourny over two days and I provide a small prize for the winner. We'll I thought of going BIG this year with a pricier nicier prize and the idea to push it a bit further too by having it as an approved panel/event in the Con book and having like a small $5 entry fee that goes right to the Con for donation to the charity.

After we submit all of our bookings to the hotel you will be receiving a confirmation from the hotel. We have put aside all of the VIP suites already and they are not in the inventory that is released to the general public.

I presume the only reason the hotel needs to call you is because the Furpoc website is not capable of taking credit info and entering all info into the hotels reservation system.

My best guess is they will just call, ask for the confirmation number, verify info and take card number.

While it for sure isn't a conventional system for con booking, I think it's working quite well so far.

It would have been nice to have a heads up that you need to be registered and have an account for the reservation process. But that is a really easy fix to make for next year.

Their system at the time required you to use your keycard to run the A/C and lights so when you took your keycard out of the slot in the wall, it all shut off. Which as you can imagine is pretty bad for a room of fursuits in July
